Remembrance tourism in the Marne

The site of a number of bloody battles during the First World War, the Marne region now retains a number of major commemorative sites. The old front line is dotted with emblematic monuments and numerous cemeteries, home to the largest number of military burials of any French department, with 164,145 soldiers’ graves.
